Camp Structure:
We have guides/counselors for the day to day activities: 1 to 7 ratio. However, you're encouraged to bring chaperones. Chaperones are greatly appreciated for non-guide-needed-activities and late evening monitoring of students.
This said please note the following regarding chaperones ~
Action Whitewater supports community involvment and greatly appreciates people who devote sincere and positive time towards improving the lifves of children. As our way of saying thank you, we allow 1-chaperone per 6-paid campers to attend camp for FREE. Pretty cool, eh? We really do appreciate you and your efforts!
When choosing your chaperones for the trip, consider the following:
Action Whitewater and Action Whitewater's staff are the leaders of this experience, chaperones are to aid in monitoring students but not contradict or dictate to AWA, we're the professionals in this environment.
These students are often being told what to do and how to do it by the same voice, more so than a student who 'goes off to school', for you're often both parent and teacher. So, the students often get more out of camp by not having their 'teacher/parent' as the chaperone(s).
